Rangers board make new contract priority

On November 21, the newspaper published a story on their website stating that the 20-year-old was in negotiations for a new contract and that there was growing interest in his talents elsewhere, which might result in him leaving for as little as £350,000 in training compensation.

The “growing” market for the winger has seen English Premier League side Brentford and Serie A pair Atalanta and Roma named as suitors.

It should come as no surprise that the Rangers’ management wants to close this transaction; the only question is why they let things get to this stage.

McCausland may have gone unnoticed by Beale during his early-season troubles, but his talent must have been obvious behind the scenes.

Since being given the opportunity to play in the first team this year, he hasn’t displayed any symptoms of hesitation, and he was appropriately recognised with his maiden cap for his nation during the international break.
