All three goals scored by the Black Cats in the first half as the hapless hosts’ terrible early-season form continued, as they cruised to an easy 3-0 victory at Hillsborough.
Tony Mowbray, the manager of Sunderland, was ecstatic with how well his team played against Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday’s winless start to the season continues, and as a result, they remain at the bottom after being defeated 3-0 at Hillsborough. Sunderland built their offense on a header from Daniel Ballard in the first five minutes, with Jack Clarke scoring twice in the first half. After that, the match was essentially over.
However, a ‘greedy’ Mowbray claims that he desired a greater margin of victory in S6.
“I think the third goal especially gives you that clarity,” Mowbray remarked following the game. But at this stadium, you always feel like one goal (may make all the difference), so we talked about not giving them any chances, and they didn’t have any until the final few minutes.
“We had the game under control, but my avaricious side has informed them that I want even more goals because other teams need to know that we can push the pace.
“The fast start gave us the platform to control the game with the ball, see how many men they would commit to the press and how we built,” Mowbray continued. “If anything we had to let them feel our threat more in the second half and be more clinical, score some more goals.
We must continue to move forward since it is another three goals scored away from home in a row.
