The Millers have only picked up one point on their travels this season and are still in the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.
With goals from Tyler Morton, Jaden Philogene, and Scott Twine in the opening 20 minutes, Rotherham was completely overwhelmed. Grant Hall’s header on minute 59 proved to be little more than consolation as Philogene added a fourth goal early in the second half.
“I’m waiting to hear (from chairman Tony Stewart),” stated Carlisle. Naturally, there haven’t been many conversations because the games have been released so quickly.
“I anticipate that either Wednesday or Tuesday night the phone will ring and we’ll get a call.”
In their last three away games, Rotherham has now given up 11 goals, and they have appeared to be defeated from the start.
After just five minutes, goalie Viktor Johansson parried Liam Delap’s initial effort before Morton scored from close range.
Subsequently, Philogene displayed true talent with a brilliant backheel from the six-yard box’s left angle.
When Twine tapped in another nice rebound off Johansson, the game was all but over. Shortly after the half, Philogene added another.
With a well-directed header, Hall at least gave the Rotherham supporters something to cheer about, but the damage was already done.
“We need to try and get them as fresh as possible for Saturday,” Carlisle stated. The goal is to try and instill in them the self-assurance and motivation to start moving again.
“Away from home, we don’t seem to be able to support it. At home, we have energy and do pursue teams.
“I felt like they became a little confused. Though it’s easy to get a little crazy when you shoot yourself in the foot as early as we did, I didn’t think they lost heart.
We just didn’t seem to have the energy levels, and we took too long to catch up.
“We’ll try to address the away form—which is obviously a major issue—but I have no idea what’s going through their minds.”
Much to the delight of head coach Liam Rosenior, Hull has won their last three home games and is back in the Championship play-off zone.
“The ruthlessness was there,” he declared. We produced that final product, and I enjoyed watching some of our football.
We will develop into a very strong team if we can ensure that this is the case for us consistently.
“At this point, we are exhibiting true quality. I love working with the players, and they seem to be enjoying being at this club.
“As a defender by trade and by nature, I was incensed about Rotherham’s goal, but those kinds of moments don’t hurt you as much when we’re playing so well.”
Another outstanding performance came from Aston Villa summer signing Philogene. Rosenior remarked, “What Jaden is showing is moments of absolute quality but it’s not about just one individual, it’s about the group.” Additionally, our performance as a group was simply amazing.
