Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive includes the reported interest from the Villans in Ajax midfielder
Aston Villahave reportedly taken an interest in Ajax midfielder Kenneth Taylor.
According to TEAMtalk, the 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from a host of Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window. In addition to Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton are said to be “keeping close tabs” on the player.
It’s said that Taylor has previously been considered by both Manchester United and Manchester City. The Manchester pair are said to have previously scouted the Dutchman.
Meanwhile, Villa’s alleged interest may be related to persistent rumours regarding Douglas Luiz’s future, as Arsenal is eager to acquire the midfield player. Villa, though, has no plans to sell him.
TEAMtalk add that Taylor would be reluctant over a January move, with a summer exit being a more likely option. Former Ajax boss Aad De Mos has backed Taylor to become one of the biggest stars in Europe.
“He is already one of the best players on the field at Ajax,” he told Voetbal Nieuws last year. “He will stay for another year after this, then it will be Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United. If there are two buses parked in front of him, he knows how to make the right choices towards the strikers or players in his area.
“He has two feet as well. Should the team be small, fear need not arise. He is intelligent and has an iron will to protect. a very gifted athlete.”
Taylor’s contract is scheduled to expire in 2027, and it is believed that he has a €50 million release clause. At the age of eight, he became a member of Ajax, and in December 2020, he made his debut.
