This comes after the forward was named Scottish Premiership Player of the Month in October.
Philippe Clement is highly interested in Abdallah Sima because of his decisive striker performance, and while the Brighton loan move is until next summer, Rangers are contemplating negotiations earlier.
Philippe Clement wants to sign Abdallah Sima
Philippe Clement hailed Abdallah Sima’s form ahead of the Scottish Premiership meeting with Hearts.
Furthermore, the Belgian manager has stated that Rangers is a great place for the player to develop and that a move to Ibrox is advantageous to everyone.
Clement, who has emerged as a crucial member of the Rangers team, has indicated that the club is preparing to initiate talks with Brighton about a deal.
“It’s not about assessing that in the summer, there will be talks faster than that,” Clement said.
“But of course it’s really early to be doing that now. The most important thing is that Abdallah is that performing and that he feels really good in the club. That’s the first step so we can build on that.
“If he is continuing what he is is doing now I think this is also a good place for him to grow, as a player, as a person, in everything.”
Rangers mentality praised
While there is no denying Abdallah Sima’s abilities, Philippe Clement has also praised his winning mindset.
A strong personality is required at a club like Rangers, and the former AS Monaco manager believes Abdallah Sima is part of the positive vibe he’s aiming to create in Glasgow.
“It’s a demanding club so you love that or you have difficulty with that,” Clement went on to say.
“You need a big personality to be strong with that in times when people aren’t happy.” Then you must fight your way through. And Abdallah has demonstrated this in recent times.
“It’s not all the time that he gets compliments. But he also fights through, and it is something we must pay close attention to when evaluating players.
“It’s not just physical, tactical, and technical abilities; there’s also personality, the ability to be strong in a winning environment.”
“I also want to foster a winning culture here.” People who will come through even under the worst of circumstances the difficult moments.
“I want that also from the fans, that they push the players through even in the difficult moments, pushing in a positive ways, feeling confident that if they give energy, the players will do it. So that’s what we need to create
Is Sima move realistic for Gers?
While it’s evident that Abdallah Sima has a great fan in Rangers boss Philippe Clement, it’s unclear whether Brighton will be willing to play ball.
The big money Rangers cannot operate in the Premier League’s financial arena, and Brighton are among its most astute negotiators.
Having earned hundreds of millions of dollars on player sales to the division’s biggest teams, you can bet your bottom dollar they hoped to bank a profit on Abdallah Sima when they signed him as well.
That means Rangers must pay at least the £7 million Brighton spent for the attacker, even though he will be in the final year of his contract next season.
Perhaps a reasonable repurchase clause might be incorporated into the contract, allowing Brighton to re-sign the striker for a reduced fee if he explodes at Rangers.
But one thing is certain: if the Rangers and Philippe Clement are serious in signing Abdallah Sima, there is still a lot of wrangling to be done.
For those who are curious, Clement’s remarks also explain Abdallah Sima’s celebrations against the Saints.
