Aston Villa player emerges

Aston Villa’s Clément Lenglet has emerged as a surprise target for Bayern Munich.

That’s according to Bild, who say Bayern have made it a priority to add a centre-back in January. Thomas Tuchel’s side are yet to decide whether to sign only one or if they should bring in more players in the same position.

Bayern have the Aston Villa defender and Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini in their target list.

The Serie A team reportedly has no intention of selling the €40 million star, making a deal for the Italy international reportedly difficult to complete.

However, the report claims that signing the Frenchman, who joined the Villans on loan from Barcelona during the most recent window, “may be easier.”
Bild claims that because the 28-year-old is valued at €10 million, a “commitment would be more realistic.” In order to complete the transfer, Bayern would require the La Liga team’s assistance.

The Catalan club is concerned because Lenglet, who has made five appearances this season, has not yet appeared in the Premier League.

Should Bayern make a strong offer, his circumstances at Aston Villa may persuade Barcelona to think about terminating his loan and selling him to them in January.
