After a Scottish Sun article suggested the Light Blues had been watching the Aberdeen striker while Celtic lined up a potential record SPFL move for him in January, the web outlet revealed via Twitter on 6 December that there was nothing in the link.
Due to the problems of Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers, and, increasingly, Danilo, the Gers are rumoured to be looking for a new goalscorer in the winter window, but it appears that it will not be the Macedonian.
T4O wrote in response to the Scottish Sun story: “Rangers are *NOT* interested in Bojan Miovski.”
Aberdeen are tipped to demand more than £4.4million for the 24-year-old.
It is unclear whether Rangers aren’t apparently interested in Miovski because they believe there are better options or if they can’t afford him.
The Ibrox hierarchy suggested at the AGM on Tuesday (5 December) that Philippe Clement will be backed in January and next summer, despite concerns that the summer spending hasn’t left a budget behind to fix Michael Beale’s mistakes.
Lawrence Shankland has been widely linked to an Ibrox move but is surely going to cost somewhere in the region of what Aberdeen want for Miovski to prize him away from Hearts.
Rangers defeated the Scotland international for the first time in four meetings with a 1-0 victory at Tynecastle on Wednesday night, but Danilo’s profligacy in front of goal and Clement’s embrace with Shankland after the final whistle will not have dampened speculation.
Kevin van Veen is another potential possibility who may be more economical because the Dutchman has indicated he is on his way out of Groningen.
It appears like Clement will require someone more dependable than what he currently has, although Miovski may be crossed off the list.
In unrelated Rangers news, a senior Ibrox figure was wanted by Celtic in a situation that was being investigated potentially “problematic”.
