The Angels are looking to bring back two coaches from last year.
As newly acquired manager Ron Washington is getting settled in with the Los Angeles Angels and is in the final stages of building together his coaching staff, it appears the Angels might bring back a few familiar faces.
In an article written by Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register, it was revealed that the Angels have an interest in bringing back former assistant pitching coach Bill Hezel and former infield coach Benji Gil.
After stating that some players can benefit from a different coaching perspective when talking about newly acquired pitching coaches Barry Enright and Steve Karsay, Washington went on to applaud Hezel for the work he has done and state that he is a “super talented” coach and that they are looking to bring him back into the same role he was in last season.
After the news that Phil Nevin was relieved from his duties and would no longer continue to manage the Angels heading into next year, Gil was a finalist for the Angels position and was publicly endorsed by starting pitcher Patrick Sandoval for the role while he was on the set at a Anaheim Ducks game.
