The Brazilian striker will be sidelined until April after scan results confirmed the worst-case scenario
D,anilo a frustrated Rangers player, could be out for FOUR months.
After suffering a medial ligament injury against Hearts at Tynecastle last week, the former Feyenoord striker was initially thought to be sidelined until after the winter break. The worst-case scenario was confirmed by scans on the Brazilian’s knee, according to the Scottish Sun, and the £6 million summer signing will now need surgery.
This will be a severe blow to manager Philippe Clement as it implies Danilo won’t be available until April at the latest. During his September goal against St Johnstone, Danilo, who is unlucky, broke his cheekbone, which has already caused him to miss five weeks of the season.
Upon his return, he wore a face mask and has already scored six goals this season. However, given his most recent setback, Gers manager Paul Clement will now have to sign another striker during the January transfer window—possibly two.
Danilo wrote on Instagram last week about his injury, saying, “I’m temporarily unable to do what I love the most out of necessity.” For the next games, I’ll cheer on the team virtually.
“For the time being, I must concentrate on healing my knee and returning as soon as possible. I appreciate your concerns, and I promise to return stronger.”
