With Brendan Rodgers looking to add quality to his Celtic squad in January, a report has claimed that the Hoops gaffer already has his eye on a player who could replace Joe Hart.
The Daily Record reports this morning that Bournemouth goalkeeper, Will Dennis, is on the Hoops radar as Brendan Rodgers looks for an upgrade in the goalkeeping department.
Right now, Dennis is with Kilmarnock on loan through the end of the current campaign.
Rangers and Celtic are both closely monitoring Kilmarnock keeper Will Dennis, who is on loan, according to the report.
“Both clubs’ scouting teams are keeping an eye on the outstanding 23-year-old. Dennis’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, but he is currently on loan from Bournemouth. It implies that come summer, he could travel freely across borders.
Dennis has participated in every Kilmarnock home game this season. He also started both of Killies’ victories over Brendan Rodgers’ team in the league and the Scottish Cup. [Transfermarkt]
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, stated regarding the Celtic target
When Eddie Howe managed Bournemouth, he was a huge fan of the 23-year-old. Dennis joined The Cherries in 2016 at the age of fifteen, and four years later, Howe approved a three-year contract extension.
Will is another gifted young custodian we have on our books, Howe stated at the time in reference to the young custodian [Daily Echo].
Under the tutelage of Neil Moss and Anthony White, he has made significant progress since joining our team.
“Mark Travers and Aaron Ramsdale, both of whom are young, are really good mentors for him.
However, I’m confident he would have observed their professional approach to and attack of their own development.
“He has the qualities to do it. He would have seen that and said, ‘I want a piece of that.'” His future is bright because he is a good kicker, shot stopper, and lovely size.
With no new contract extension in sight for Joe Hart, whose Celtics contract expires at the end of this season, it appears that Rodgers is looking to replace the treble-winning hero.
Hart has drawn criticism since his recent league performances have cost Celtic points. Dennis has been a great servant for Celtic over the last two seasons, so perhaps Rodgers now sees Dennis as the ideal candidate to step in and take over the mantle.
