Southampton Pushing To Sign £7 Million Striker This January

Championship promotion hopefuls Southampton are looking to ease the recent injury blow to Ross Stewart by signing a new centre-forward in January, with a prolific talisman from Scotland being eyed up, according to reports.

Under head coach Russell Martin, the Saints are dominating in the second tier of English football. Following a difficult September, the team has won 16 straight league games and most recently defeated Martin’s old team, Swansea City, to get closer to the automatic promotion spots.

With victories over Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City, Southampton’s Boxing Day could not have gone any better. Martin’s team was the only one among the top four to secure a victory.

With the decisive victory over the Welsh team, Southampton surpassed Norwich City and Leeds in the standings for goals scored, ranking third in the Championship this year.

In addition, Martin’s team demonstrated that they are capable of scoring goals without having a weak defence by going three games without giving up a goal and scoring ten, an extremely impressive return.

However, the manager recently disclosed that Ross Stewart, a summer acquisition, might miss the remainder of the season after making just two appearances overall since moving from Sunderland for £8 million a few months ago.

In addition, it has been suggested that Che Adams, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, may be leaving the team in January.

According to the Daily Record, Martin is eager to sign Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski during the winter transfer window in order to bolster his goal-scoring lineup.

Despite the fact that Miovski has been playing well for the Scottish team this season—scoring 14 goals in 27 games across all competitions—the outlet is reporting that Aberdeen needs to receive at least £6.5 million in order to even consider selling him.

Since joining Aberdeen, Miovski has been incredible, and his goal-scoring record for the team suggests that Southampton isn’t the only team keeping an eye on his development in Scotland.

Though perhaps Adams’ sale would make this transfer a little more feasible, £6.5 million and possibly more is a lot to pay for the North Macedonia international, especially if Martin views him primarily as Adam Armstrong’s backup center-forward.
