Victor Osimhen has sent out a statement on his situation at Napoli, having been linked with a transfer away from the club.
Victor Osimhen has dropped a huge statement on his situation at Napoli amid uncertainty over his future at the club, following on from a dispute within their ranks. The striker has been one of the best in Europe in recent seasons, having scored plenty of goals for the Azzurri on their way to a Serie A title victory.
The Nigerian international has a knack for scoring goals, putting his body on the line metaphorically and physically to do so – now having to wear a mask when playing after suffering multiple facial fractures. Heading into this campaign, there have been struggles both on and off the pitch.
A sluggish start to the campaign has seen Napoli pick up four wins from their opening seven Serie A games, sitting third in their attempt to defend the championship. Off the pitch, there is growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Osimhen and where that could well lay.
The forward has just under two-years remaining on his contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, with no sign as of yet as to whether there will be an extension. There are also growing tensions within their ranks after a TikTok video posted by the official Napoli account sparked anger from the player’s entourage.
According to a statement made by Osimhen’s agent, the club may face legal action over the incident due to the offensive themes addressed. With several elite teams across the world connected to a switch, there has been more discussion of a potential transfer out in the coming year or so.Looking across London there’s Chelsea, who have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer for a few years now, with that hunt still continuing. Mauricio Pochettino could be handed even more financial leverage in the transfer market, which may swing the Osimhen saga.

However, amidst those links, the striker himself has come out with a statement on his current situation at Napoli and the future. Taking to social media, he said: “Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us”.
“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride”. The accusations against People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me”.
“I’m forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE.”
