Former Reading defender Ethan Bristow has returned to the UK from the MLS, joining Stockport County on loan.
The 21-year-old from Maidenhead played seven times for the Royals before moving north to join Tranmere Rovers.
Enjoying a breakout spell at Prenton Park, the full-back made over 50 appearances in his sole season and earned a big move to Minnesota United in Major League Soccer.
The young player, who has made 12 appearances, has decided to spend the American off-season at home, spending May with promotion-chasing Stockport.
The Hatters, who lost to Carlisle United in the play-off final last season, are presently leading League Two.
“We’re delighted to be able to secure bringing Ethan to the club; there are so many positives to the move from our perspective,” First-Team Manager Dave Challinor stated. Given that Ryan Rydel was sidelined for the entire season due to an ACL injury, we were clearly in a position where we needed to find a replacement for Ibby right away during his time away for the African Cup of Nations.
“Not only does Ethan meet our requirements for that role, but he can start training with us right away to help us integrate and acclimatise him to the work environment as quickly as possible. It will be crucial because he hasn’t played in a little while, and we have almost three weeks to accomplish it.
“We have added a player who has recent League Two experience from his time at Tranmere last season, which is another huge plus. His performances down that left hand side made him a huge hit there and had a significant effect on their team. The people I know there have only had good things to say about his character and desire to get better. We are already having fun.
