Sheffield United discuss possible long-term contract with 19-year-old midfielder

Information from TEAMtalk reveals that Sheffield United are currently engaged in discussions with 19-year-old midfielder Oli Arblaster regarding a new long-term contract at Bramall Lane. Having progressed through the ranks at the South Yorkshire club, Arblaster is in the last six months of his existing contract, and the Blades are eager to secure his future with a new agreement.

Chris Wilder has decided to bring back the young player after a successful loan stint at League One side Port Vale in the initial part of the season.

Arblaster left a positive impression at Vale Park, contributing significantly with 26 appearances in various competitions, along with two goals and two assists. Unfortunately he ended his spell with the club in a leg brace after suffering a nasty looking injury against Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup.

The England under-20 midfielder has garnered high regard within the leadership of Sheffield United, having already made five appearances for the first team.

Sources from TEAMtalk indicate that despite interest from several clubs eager to secure him on loan again, Arblaster is expected to be included in Chris Wilder’s plans for the second half of the campaign once he recovers from injury.

Wilder is counting on Arblaster to make a significant impact and contribute to Sheffield United’s efforts to avoid relegation this season. With his current promising trajectory, the talented central midfielder could play a crucial role for the Blades in the years to come.
