Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as the Sky Blues complete the signing of Danish midfielder Victor Torp from the Norwegian top flight
Coventry City have completed the signing of Danish midfielder Victor Torp from Norwegian top flight club Sarpsborg for a ‘undisclosed’ fee, understood to be in the region of £2.1million. The 24-year-old former Denmark youth international joins the Sky Blues on a four-and-a-half-year contract that runs until June 2028. Arriving as Mark Robins’ first signing of the January transfer window, Sarpsborg’s Player of the Year from last season is hoped to fill the void left by Gustavo Hamer’s departure back in August.
Torp started his career with Danish top flight side FC Midtjylland before four loan spells in Denmark and Belgium before going to the Norwegian top division, Eliteserien, in 2022, signing a three year contract. For Sarpsborg in the previous season, the No. 8 netted six goals in 30 games.
The athlete, who is described as an agile and all-action midfielder, is expected to contribute both creativity and combativeness to the Sky Blues’ midfield.
“We’re delighted to welcome Victor to Coventry City,” manager Mark Robins stated. He is a player who offers us athleticism and inventiveness.
“He will need a period of adjustment but we are confident that he will adapt to the intensity and demands of training and the Championship. Victor’s football growth will continue with us, and we look forward to working with him.
Should Torp’s international clearance arrive in time, he may be able to play for the Sky Blues against Leicester City on Saturday at CBS Arena.
