The UFL Super Draft,Birmingham Stallions select Bo Scarbrough>

Bo Scarbrough, the running back for the Birmingham Stallions, breaks free for a touchdown run against the Philadelphia Stars on July 3, 2022, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, during the USFL Championship Game.

Following the team’s selection of the former Alabama running back in the United Football League Super Draft on Monday, Bo Scarbrough will rejoin the Birmingham Stallions in 2024.

Scarbrough was not the only Birmingham player selected on Monday, despite the fact that he had spent the last two USFL seasons with the Stallions, making it appear like an unusual selection.

The Stallions selected Scarbrough in the seventh round, but they also selected quarterback Jalen Morton in the third round, long snapper Ryan Langan in the fifth round, offensive tackle Jahmir Ross-Johnson in the eighth round, running back Zaquandre White in the ninth round, and fullback Bobby Holly in the tenth round. Myron Mitchell, a former wide receiver from Jasper High School and UAB, was selected in the eleventh round.

The USFL and XFL merged to form the United Football League on Monday, marking a new phase in the league’s formation. The Arlington Renegades will host Birmingham on March 30 to begin play in the first season.

The USFL and XFL both lost four franchises to the UFL. But four teams from each league were eliminated from the match as a result.

All 42 players on the rosters of the remaining teams were protected by the new league. Each UFL team may select up to 20 players from the former league’s disbanded teams on January 5.

The eight UFL teams were not limited to selecting players from their old league; instead, they may select any player who had not been selected or protected in the previous dispersal draft on Monday.

Not all teams selected all the way through the 14 rounds of the Super Draft. The only team to select in the thirteenth and fourteenth rounds was the Memphis Showboats.

First-round picks in the UFL Super Draft were former Jacksonville State tight end Jared Scott and former Alabama State running back Ezra Grey.

Quinten Dormady, a quarterback, was selected first by the San Antonio Brahmas on Monday. The Showboats, led by centre Jared Thomas, came next.

Grey, who spent the previous season with Memphis, was traded to the Houston Roughnecks at No. 3. At No. 7, Scott transferred from the New Orleans Breakers to the Renegades.

Defensive tackle T.J. Barnes (Enterprise), wide receiver Damion Willis (Troy), who went from the Seattle Sea Dragons to the Showboats, offensive lineman John Yarbrough (Homewood), who went from the XFL Houston Roughnecks to the Brahmas, and wide receiver Damion Willis (Troy), who went from the Seattle Sea Dragons to the Showboats, were other Alabama high school and college players selected in the Super Draft.

Birmingham also selected on Monday:

· First-round offensive lineman Larnel Coleman· In the second round, Safety Alijah Holder (Houston Gamblers in 2023)

· In the fourth round, cornerback Terrell Bonds (Pittsburgh Maulers, 2023)

In the sixth round, Madre Harper, a cornerback

Scarbrough rushed for 135 yards and one score on 13 carries in the 2022 USFL Championship Game, following his 39 yards on 11 carries and three receptions for 26 yards in the Stallions’ 31-17 victory over the New Orleans Breakers in the semifinals. He made two touchdown runs in Birmingham’s 33-30 triumph over the Philadelphia Stars: one for 36 yards and another for 70 yards.

In 2023, the Stallions once more captured the USFL championship, but this time without Scarbrough’s help. Before being injured by a knee injury in the season-opening game, he was only able to complete two rush attempts. Scarbrough did not return to the pitch after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur from his knee.
