Here we go , Fabrizio Romano confirms £10.2m ace isn’t signing for Rangers

Rangers will not be signing Benfica left back David Jurasek with the Czech international now on the verge of signing for Hoffenheim.

Rangers have been linked with left back after left back after left back this month.

It’s a position Rangers will surely need to address at some point in 2024 with Borna Barisic’s contract running down and Ridvan Yilmaz attracting interest elsewhere.

A host of names have been linked with Rangers this month but one rumoured target can now be crossed off the list…

Rangers set to miss out on David Jurasek
Reports in recent days indicated that Rangers are battling Bundesliga clubs in the race to sign Benfica left back David Jurasek.

One report on Wednesday even indicated that Rangers were in a strong position to sign Jurasek as he was open to making the move to Glasgow.

Well, Rangers appear to have missed out on this one as Jurasek is now poised to move to Germany.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Jurasek is set to sign for Hoffenheim – and has given the move his usual ‘here we go’ catchphrase.

Romano claims that Jurasek is now joining Hoffenheim on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy.

The permanent clause is not mandatory but it will cost around €12million (£10.3million) to activate.

That kind of price tag will have been well beyond Rangers, so the chances of Jurasek actually joining seem to have been slim all along.

Benfica struck a deal worth around £12million for Jurasek in the summer having seen him shine for Slavia Prague.

Jurasek has struggled to make an impact in Lisbon though and Benfica have now signed a new left back themselves, landing Alvaro Fernandez from Manchester United.

That has paved the way for Jurasek to leave, but his destination won’t be Ibrox – and Rangers must now focus elsewhere in the hunt for a new left back.
