Sheffield United are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a trade for Croatian custodian Ivo Grbic, 28, who is out of contract this summer.

The dominating 6ft 5ins custodian has twice represented his country and was part of the group that placed third at the 2022 World Cup.

However, his playing time for his club has been limited as Atletico’s Jan Oblak continues to excel as one of the world’s top goalkeepers.

Grbic has yet to make a first-team appearance for Diego Simeone’s side, who could be willing to part ways with the plater for just £2 million.

The Blades have been connected with Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward as Chris Wilder looks to replace Wes Foderingham and strengthen his team’s flagging survival hopes.

The team is now at the bottom of the Premier League with nine points after 20 games, with a home game against West Ham coming up this weekend.

The Blades have already strengthened their lineup this month by signing Villarreal forward Ben Brereton-Diaz on loan until the end of the season.

Sheffield United are also considering a move for Everton‘s Mason Holgate who is on loan at Southampton.

The 27-year-old has made just five appearances for Russell Martin’s promotion chasers, with his last outing coming in a 2-1 win over West Brom in November.
