From now until the end of the transfer window, Bolton Wanderers are searching for a new forward.
In his ten Championship games this season, Ward, 33, has scored just once.
He is considered as a potential addition to the Trotters, along with Aaron Collins and Niall Ennis from Bristol Rovers and Blackburn Rovers, respectively, according to reporter Witcoop on X (see below).
Huddersfield is under no obligation to cash in on Ward this winter unless the appropriate offer comes in because he is under contract there till the summer of 2025.
He is a player with far more experience than Collins and Ennis, and Bolton may find it helpful to have him in and around the team as they attempt to go up from League One.
The Yorkshireman is already familiar with the club, having previously been signed to the Trotters’ roster. When he was a young player from Leeds United, he joined them in 2007 and played in the Premier League twice before being sent on loan to Swindon Town, Coventry City, and Huddersfield.
Following his permanent departure from Bolton in 2011, Ward went on to play professionally for Rotherham United and Cardiff City, where he assisted Neil Warnock in leading the team to the Premier League. Less than four years have passed since Ward’s last visit to the John Smith’s Stadium.
Ian Evatt’s team defeated Carlisle United 4-1 on the road at the weekend, and they should be busy before the deadline on Thursday, looking to bolster their roster.
