As negotiations continue, Bristol Rovers has rejected a proposal from Bolton Wanderers for Aaron Collins.
League One opponents Bolton Wanderers made an initial offer for Aaron Collins, but Bristol Rovers turned it down, according to Bristol Live. The two teams are still in negotiations for a possible deal.
Bolton’s offer is also thought to have been £600,000, although Rovers valued their striker closer to £1 million.
Although negotiations will likely continue throughout the first part of next week, there is not much time left before the transfer window closes on Thursday at 11 p.m.
Collins’ arrival might mean the difference between the Whites’ automatic promotion and the play-offs for Ian Evatt’s team, who are presently in second position in League One but are being pursued by teams like Barnsley, Peterborough United and Derby County.
It is said that they are looking to add a striker before the deadline on Thursday, and Niall Ennis of Blackburn Rovers is one possible candidate.
League Two automatic promotion chasers Wrexham have also expressed interest, and fellow League One team Charlton Athletic is keeping an eye on the situation and may make an offer before the deadline.
The 26-year-old was named the League One player of the season the previous season after contributing 16 goals and 12 assists to a team that ultimately placed 17th in the division. Although a summer transfer seemed certain, it never happened.
It is believed that the player thought that after staying into the summer window, new contract negotiations would start. However, due to a number of factors, including new ownership, Joey Barton’s exit in October, and possibly his own on-field exploits, that idea was shelved.
The Welshman has had trouble maintaining consistency this season; he has only scored three goals in the league, the most recent of which was on October 7 against Oxford United. The adaptable attacker is one of the league’s greatest playmakers with nine assists in the third division, despite his problems to put the ball in the net.
Additionally, Collins still has 18 months left on his present contract at the Mem and has a considerable market value that Rovers are perfectly entitled to demand. Additionally, it is known that the 26-year-old just switched agencies.
When asked about Collins’ future at the team following his exclusion from the matchday squad for Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Oxford United, Matt Taylor stated that the player made the decision to skip out amid transfer rumours, adding that one interested club must match the Gas’ valuation and maintaining that Rovers control the deal.
