Sheffield Wednesday will soon find out whether they need to be concerned about Akin Famewo after he limped off against West Bromwich Albion.
Due to the fact that they had already used up all of their in-game substitutions for last night’s 1-0 loss, Xisco’s team had to finish the game with 10 men after the Owls defender was forced out at the end.
Famewo has been a consistent performer for the Spanish manager, appearing in all bar two games in all competitions. However, Famewo might miss Darren Moore’s return to Hillsborough on Saturday due to what could be another injury setback for the Owls manager.
While Momo Diaby is still recovering from the injury he got on debut, Wednesday at the Hawthorns saw the captain, Barry Bannan, and Josh Windass absent once more. If Famewo enters the list, the manager will have still another choice to make.
The 24-year-old appeared to be in significant agony in his groin and received care for some time before leaving, but Xisco claimed that it was still too early to determine the severity of the issue.
We’ll see what transpires at this moment, he told The Star. I am unable to comment on how he is feeling at this time. We’ll check in with him tomorrow to see how he’s feeling and whether he’ll be okay for the next game or not.
Saturday afternoon’s matchup between Wednesday and Huddersfield will be a continuation of their quest for a first victory after Wednesday’s loss to the Baggies made this season’s start to the league their worst-ever.
