Police catch drug and drink-driver in Windhill and Wrose’

Over the weekend, POLICE apprehended a driver under the influence of drugs and a driver with a temporary licence.

Last night, two distinct vehicle-related tasks in the area were handled by officers from the Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) Windhill and Wrose unit.

When the squad pulled over a black Citroen, they checked it out and discovered the driver didn’t have insurance.

The motorist also underwent a roadside drug test, and the results were positive.

The car was seized and they were taken into custody.

“This evening, while on pro-active patrols, officers from the Windhill and Wrose team spotted the below vehicle. Checks conducted showed the driver did not hold a valid policy of insurance,” a team spokesperson stated yesterday.

“A roadside drug test by the motorist revealed a positive result.

“The car was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.

“A file will be prepared for court.”

That same evening, officers from the Windhill and Wrose team also observed a car being driven “in a dangerous manner.”

When the car was pulled stopped, the driver’s breathalyser test came up positive.

Their driving while exceeding the legal limit resulted in their arrest.

Additionally, the driver’s provisional licence and lack of insurance were discovered by the police.

The driver was arrested, the car was seized, and they were reported for those charges.

“This evening, officers from the Windhill and Wrose team spotted a vehicle driving in a dangerous manner,” a team spokesperson stated.

“The driver was arrested for driving over the legal limit after the car was pulled over and the driver tested positive on a roadside breathalyser.

“Additional investigations revealed the driver had no active insurance policy and only a provisional licence.
“The driver reported the offences, and the vehicle was seized.

“A file will be prepared for court.”
