The family of a grandfather who died after a serious assault have said he “will be greatly missed by many”.
Following the early-morning attack at Westbourne Court, Rodbourne, on Monday, Terry Ricketts, 53, passed away.
Since then, Grant Walker, 32, of Faringdon Road, Swindon, has been accused of killing him.
He was described as a “devoted husband, the best dad and granddad to his six grandchildren” in a statement by his family.
“He was a good friend to many and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in any way he could,” it said.
According to his family, he “adored” fishing and “loved pottering about doing anything to do with DIY”.
They stated: “His happy place was always down by a lake.”
Following his appearance at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, Mr. Walker—who is additionally accused of assaulting an emergency worker—was placed under detention.
On April 2, he is scheduled to attend a plea and trial preparation hearing at Bristol Crown Court.
In the meantime, Mr. Rickett’s family has established a GoFundMe page in order to collect money for his burial.
