Hundreds of people will be made redundant
The Body Shop will close its store in Luton, along with 74 locations in the UK over the coming weeks, according FRP Advisory.
The firm in charge of restructuring the cosmetics brand said that, including 489 jobs in its stores and head office staff, between 750 and 800 people will be made redundant.
But 116 branches will stay open. This news comes as the beauty chain went into administration this month
Over the course of the next four to six weeks, The Mall’s Luton store will permanently close. Tony Wright of FRP Advisory stated: “We have stabilised the business by acting quickly to right-size The Body Shop’s UK retail portfolio. We are still entirely committed to investigating every avenue for moving the company forward.”
It was in 1976 when Dame Anita Roddick launched the brand. The company was sold to L’Oreal in 2006. Since then, it has changed hands twice. Late last year, the private equity firm Aurelius purchased it.
