Robbie Fraser, who captained the team after being sighted in first-team training last week, and Kieran Wright, who is still frequently involved at first-team level, were among the Rangers B team members.
Archie Stevens, a promising English forward, and Josh Gentles, an enticing young Welsh talent, were two more notable starters.
The youthful Gers team was lauded by B team manager David McCallum, who said that there were “some really top individual performances” in the game.
Nathan Young-Coombes returns to Academy
Rangers fans will remember Nathan Young-Coombes from his distinctive Sideshow Bob haircut which made him stand-out as a youngster at Ibrox.
But it was more than just his haircut which left an impression at Rangers with the young England forward part of the academy team which famously won the ALKASS Cup in 2019.
Moving to Brentford for an “undisclosed fee” in 2021 having never made a first-team appearance, Young-Coombes made his Premier League debut by the end of his first season at the club.
Being included in Brentford’s matchday squads in the run-in to the 21/22 season, Nathan Young-Coombes came off the bench for the final few minutes of a 3-0 Premier League win over Southampton in the May of 2022.
Nathan Young-Coombes signed a season-long loan agreement with AFC Wimbledon the following season, although it was terminated in January when an injury interfered with his League Two play.
Young-Coombes’ season was derailed by an ankle injury this season; he is currently making progress with the Brentford B team.
Rangers’ 2-0 triumph over the Jambos’ Edinburgh rivals seems to have ignited Scottish football, and now they head to Hampden to take on Hearts.
Although Rangers’ win in the Scottish Cup was a great day overall, Jack Butland has been reacting personally to his sports management agency on Twitter.
Jack Butland on birthday celebrations
Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland celebrated his 31st birthday in the Scottish Cup win over Hibs and this was recognised by sports management agency Triple S Sports Management.
The group took to social media platform X to wish their client and the Rangers goalkeeper a happy birthday before Butland himself responded.
Super Jack, who declared that “it was a good day,” was obviously happy about the victory over Hibs, despite the fact that he almost cost the Gers the game in the first half.
Maintaining his 23rd clean sheet of the year in the game was the ideal birthday gift for Jack Butland, who received congratulations from Rangers as well.
