A Lib Dem councillor who has been on Milton Keynes City Council for a long time has revealed that she is resigning in May for health reasons.
After being elected in 2007, Councillor Vanessa McPake has served as the representative for Monkston for nearly 20 years. She has assisted numerous individuals with local problems and has been a major voice on transport and the environment.
Over the years, Councillor McPake has dedicated her time to serve her community by advocating for a new balancing lake and addressing landscaping concerns.
“While it has been a great honour to represent residents of Monkston for the last 17 years, I have decided to retire in May,” stated Councillor McPake. Though it has been a challenging choice, I have encountered some health issues that may eventually restrict my physical capacity to serve as a council member. In order to allow locals to be represented by a new council member who can provide them with the kind of assistance they deserve, I have determined that it would be best for me to retire.
“Councillor McPake is a much-valued member of our group and well-respected across the City Council, and although it is very sad that she will be retiring in May, health must always come first,” said Lib Dem Leader Councillor Robin Bradburn.
“Vanessa has been devoted to her duty as a carer for her residents for almost two decades, which is a wonderful accomplishment. I want to express my gratitude to her for all of her efforts and the accomplishments she has made for the Monkston community.
“I have no doubt that Duncan Banks, who will be standing in Monkston in May, will be a great representative to join Councillors Ferrans and Adewale.”
