The 20-year-old Argentine midfielder has a one-year contract extension after impressing since joining Southampton from Racing Club in January.
Carlos Alcaraz has extended his contract with Southampton by one year, keeping him with the team through the summer of 2028.
The Argentine midfielder, who this week celebrated his first senior call-up to the Argentina national team, transferred from Racing Club to Saints in January for approximately £12 million. In 13 Premier League starts, he scored four goals.
Alcaraz has had a strong start to the new season, making nine appearances and contributing significantly to recent victories over Leeds United at St. Mary’s and Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old has drawn interest from a number of clubs since moving to the south coast, including Brentford, Crystal Palace, AC Milan, and Benfica. Alcaraz has now strengthened his commitment to Southampton by signing an extension.
“We are all delighted Charly has signed his new contract and we are really pleased he has committed his future to our fantastic football club,” said Saints director of football Jason Wilcox.
His complete international call-up corresponds with this, and we are all extremely proud of him. Since his arrival, Charly has shown such promise, and despite his youth, he has already had a significant influence.
