Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs revealed one moment that was a rude awakening for the Class of ’92 after their takeover of Salford City.
Class of ’92 alumni Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville partnered up and took over Salford City in 2014 as part of a collective bid.
Each of the aforementioned secured a 10 per cent stake in the club, with billionaire Singaporean businessman Peter Lim capturing the other 50 per cent stake.
Manchester United legend David Beckham, who was also a key member of the Class of ’92, purchased a 10 per cent share in Salford City from Peter Lim in 2019.
Salford City were in Division One North in the Northern Premier League at the time that the Class of ’92 and Valencia owner Lim took control of the club.
The Ammies have seen an incredible rise in football since the takeover, with Salford City achieving a run of four promotions in five years.
Salford City, who lifted the EFL Trophy under the Class of ’92 ownership, have been in League Two for five consecutive seasons after their National League play-off win.
Ryan Giggs has played an active part at Salford City and the United legend has even taken on a new role at the League Two club in 2024.
