Fire breaks out at house in Sutton

Around six o’clock at night, the house on Moor Road in Sutton, close to Stalham, caught fire.
At 6:03 p.m., Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was contacted, and workers stayed until shortly after 7 p.m. when they received a stop message.

Summer Slade thinks the burning property has been abandoned for almost 20 years because her house backs onto it.

“I was outside in my mom’s garden when I heard some popping noises. Thinking it was fireworks, I decided to go over and watch them,” the woman recalled.

“I assumed maybe it was a campfire when I saw the smoke when I got a little closer, but it was simply too large.

“When I saw the flames I just ran inside and my mum called 999.”

She went on to say that at first she was afraid she would have to leave their house with her family.

She said, “I’m just a little bit speechless.” “I didn’t expect this to happen – I was literally getting ready to leave because we didn’t know if it would spread.”
