As firemen fought a fire that tore through a Burley home in the early hours, a MAN was discovered dead.
Just before 3:30 am on Saturday, crews from all around the New Forest were dispatched to Esdaile Lane.
Later on, inside, the A&T learned that the man was, at the best, in his 60s.
As the workers battled to control the disaster, multiple fire engines were on the scene throughout the morning.
A representative for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service stated: “On July 16th, at 3.25 am, our firefighters were called to a significant home fire in Esdaile Lane, Burley.
Sadly, authorities have verified that a body was discovered inside the residence.
“The stop message was received at 2:28 pm, but crews remained for several hours to monitor hotspots and support fellow law enforcement officers.”
To determine the cause of the incident, Hampshire police and the fire department have opened an inquiry.
“The death of a man in his 60s is not currently being treated as suspicious,” a force spokesperson stated. “A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”
“Investigations to determine the circumstances and cause of the fire. Throughout the morning, numerous fire engines were on duty, and firefighters conducted community safety exercises at nearby residences in addition to damping out the fire.
Simon Rowley, a local, paid respect to the guy, stating that as a Burley Club member, he was well-known in the town.
He told the A&T, “I thought he was a really nice, likeable guy.”
He was simply the kind of person who would always lend a helping hand to others. It was a great pleasure to have him visit your village.
