Danny Röhl’s message to Sheffield Wednesday fans before do-or-die day

Danny Röhl, the manager of Sheffield Wednesday, wants the players and supporters to walk away from the game together this afternoon.
In just a few hours, the Owls and Sunderland will square off at the Stadium of Light. Röhl’s team has to win by at least one point to secure their status in the Championship on their own terms.

Once more, Wednesdayites will be packed and sold out as they board their final buses, trains, and cars for the 2023–2024 season. Their manager anticipates seeing them return to Sheffield later tonight, beaming.

During his Thursday media appearance before their journey to Wearside, Röhl responded succinctly when asked what he would like to say to his followers.

“Together, let’s complete this final step,” he answered. “We’ll give it our best on the pitch, and hopefully you’ll join us for a huge celebration that Saturday night in the city.”
“We know it is one point, but the first thing is to play in the same direction and aim for the win,” Bambo Diaby stated in his news conference. We aim to get a clean sheet first, which awards you one point. Next, we try to score; if you succeed in both, you receive all three.

“We are sure we can accomplish our goal; nobody in the locker room ever imagined we would be demoted. In the Championship, games can change drastically quickly, so we have to pay close attention every minute of the match.

Before last week’s 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, Wednesday had not won away from the Black Cats since a cup match there in 2018, when goals from Marco Matias and Adam Reach gave them a 2-0 victory. Röhl and his team will be eager to make it six games without a loss and close the season on a high note after a pretty incredible six months at the club.

Regarding injuries, the Owls are practically at full strength. Ian Poveda and Michael Ihiekwe, according to Röhl, may be able to play later today.
