Danny Rohl names three players that must be signed

Sheffield Wednesday are rapidly making plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

After escaping relegation and winning 2-0 against Sunderland on the last day of the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday can now move forward with their summer plans.

After numerous years of covering up gaps, firing managers, and other miscarriages, the Owls end the season in 20th place in the standings and may now begin to build under Danny Rohl.

And this week, Rohl gave interviews to the media in his home country of Germany. He talked about the season, managing in England, and his beloved Sheffield Wednesday fans.

In addition, Rohl has talked about a few of his favourite players during his time spent managing Red Bull Leipzig as well as three that he hopes to manage himself.

Danny Rohl names three players he’d love to sign

Speaking to RBlive, Rohl was asked if he could hypothetically sign three players from his former club Red Bull Leipzig, who would they be.

He replied:

“Lois Openda, Dani Olmo and Willi Orban.”

Openda is a Belgian international with 16 caps, Olmo has 33 caps for Spain and eight goals, whilst Orban has 43 caps for Hungary, and all three of which are still at Leipzig

The Danny Rohl factor at Sheffield Wednesday

Earlier in the season, Wednesday welcomed Nico Schulz, a former German international who was practicing with the Owls first team while he was without a club.

Though it implied that Rohl would have a highly attractive force in the transfer market, especially with footballers from Germany or currently playing in Germany, Rohl later clarified that Sheffield Wednesday would not be signing the left-back.

Having worked with Red Bull Leipzig, Bayern Munich, Southampton, and the German national team, he has a network of relationships that he will probably find very helpful at some time in his coaching career—possibly even right now at Sheffield Wednesday.
This summer, the Owls will need to reassemble their team, but Rohl intends to do so in the long run.
