AFC Wimbledon sign Double deal contracts

Following their incredible title victory, AFC Wimbledon Women moved swiftly to sign two important players to new contracts.

Ellie Dorey and Ashlee Hincks have committed to fresh deals with the Dons for the 2024–2025 campaign as Kevin Foster’s team looks to build on their previous promotion.

Ashlee was quickly out the starting blocks in front of goal after joining the Dons for the 2021–2022 season, demonstrating why her arrival was the season’s biggest coup after previously shining for Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Before scoring 39 goals in 2023–24, Ashlee scored 40 goals in her debut season with the Dons and 35 goals the following season.

“Signing for another year was a no brainer for me,” stated Ashlee. “Ever since I signed with AFC Wimbledon in June 2021, I’ve felt like I belong.” I adore every aspect of the Club, and I get a great sense of pride each time I take the pitch wearing a Wimbledon shirt. The Club deserved to be promoted this season, and I’m eager to put pen to paper once more to carry on our achievements and expansion. Towards 2024 and 2025!

“Ashlee’s goal scoring record speaks for itself, but what people don’t see from the outside is a true leader within the group,” manager Kevin Foster continued. Her elite playing background will be invaluable to us as we tackle the new tier three difficulties.”

Ellie Dorey extends her stay

After becoming a Don in time for the 2022/23 season, the former Charlton Athletic player slotted into the side seamlessly. She scored 17 goals in her first campaign, and another 14 this season. She is a versatile player who has plied her trade as a forward and also as a sweeping midfielder.

“I came back into football after a season break, and AFC Wimbledon was the perfect home for me,” said Ellie. “I fell in love with the sport, the Club and all the people involved here. To come second in the previous season was heartbreaking, but to push on and and get the promotion this club deserves is a memory I’ll cherish forever.

“There are not many days in history that I want to re-live, but Sunday’s trophy lift is definitely up there! Signing for another season was a no brainer. Oh to be a DON, and to continue wearing this shirt with pride.”

Kevin Foster said: “Ellie has grown every year with us and become pivotal to our results in tight games when moving centrally. She knows the game and has valuable experience that will support our new challenges next season.”

“Ellie’s and Ashlee’s experience in the higher leagues will be hugely important for our continued success in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division,” concluded General Manager Sophia Axelsson. Teams like Ipswich Town, Oxford United, and Plymouth Argyle are among those we’ll face. How fortunate we are to have them – let’s get to 2024/25!”

“We are absolutely delighted that Ash and Ellie have committed to continuing our journey together,” stated David Growns, the chair of AFC Wimbledon Women.
