Rotherham United stance on departing man

Jamie Lindsay, who started his career with Celtic, has been with Rotherham United since 2019, when he joined the club from Ross County.

The midfielder has been an important figure in the club’s plans in recent seasons, but his time with the Yorkshire club is going to end after this month.

Lindsay’s contract expires, and it has been announced that he is leaving the club to become a free agent.

According to The Athletic, Wrexham remain interested in signing Lindsay this summer and are keeping an eye on his situation.

Given the 28-year-old is set to become a free agent, it means the decision of where he is going to play football next comes down to the player alone, and while the Red Dragons remain interested, other teams could yet show interest as well.

Wrexham may be keen to add to their midfield department following the departure of Luke Young. The club being interested in Lindsay isn’t a new thing, as the midfielder was linked with a move to the Racecourse back in the January transfer window, but a move never materialised.

Jamie Lindsay’s 2023/24 stats for Rotherham United

As just stated, Jamie Lindsay has been with Rotherham United since 2019, and during that time he has been a part of teams that have sealed promotion to the Championship as well as being relegated to League One.

The midfielder has been a constant presence in the team; he may not have started every game, but he has featured a lot throughout the seasons.

The 2023/24 campaign was Lindsay’s poorest since joining the Millers, as he only played 21 times in the league, during which he only scored one goal and failed to register a single assist.

The 28-year-old made 22 appearances overall across all competitions; the other came earlier in the season in the EFL Cup.

Lindsay departs Rotherham after making 161 appearances for the team, contributing six assists and eight goals.

Overall, the 28-year-old played 22 times in all competitions, with his other appearance coming in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign.

Lindsay leaves Rotherham having played 161 times for the club, during which he scored eight goals and chipped in with six assists.
