The Blades set sights on transfer move for 27-year-old

Sheffield United are keen to snap up the defender this summer following their relegation from the Premier League. They will be eyeing an immediate return from the Championship after they finished in the bottom three along with Burnley and Luton Town.

Worrall, 27, has fallen out of favour at Nottingham Forest in the top flight and could move on in the upcoming transfer window, despite the fact he is under contract until 2026. He spent the second-half of last season on loan in the Turkish Super Lig with Besiktas.

In this latest update regarding his future by Football Insider, the Blades have identified him as a target as they hunt for some new faces. Chris Wilder remains in charge at Bramall Lane and knows what it takes to get out of the second tier.

Sheffield United eye defender

Worrall may be seen by Sheffield United as someone who can strengthen their defense.

Although he has spent his entire career with Nottingham Forest, he could use a long-term change of scenery.

The Nottingham-born man rose up through the academy ranks of his local side and was a regular for them at various different youth levels.

Worrall has made 226 appearances across all competitions for his current club, tallying five goals from the defensive position.

After the Reds defeated Huddersfield Town at Wembley in the 2022 play-offs, he contributed to their victory. Since then, they have continued to rise. The former England youth international has previously spent time on loan at Dagenham, Redbridge, and Rangers in addition to the City Ground.

What next?

Sheffield United must make sure that their hiring is done correctly because they have a busy few months ahead of them.

After his time at Besiktas, Worrall will be in good shape, and the Blades could use his experience and prior promotion.Wilder’s squad may need to move quickly on this one since, like with any player of his caliber, other teams may be vying for his signature.
