Wolves agree £12.7m deal with Braga to sign Rodrigo Gomes… with Gary O’Neil’s side beating competition from Atletico Madrid to land winger

Rodrigo Gomes is going to Sporting Braga for £12.7 million after Wolves beat Atletico Madrid to the deal.

The 20-year-old, who can play as a winger or wing-back, made an impression when on loan at Estoril last season, tallying seven goals in thirty appearances.
Portugal has given him four under-21 caps, during which he has scored an outstanding three goals.

Gomes will be Wolves’ second summer acquisition following Tommy Doyle’s £4.3 million permanent move from Manchester City.

 

Gomes is scheduled to be in England this week in order to have a medical examination and finalise a five-year deal.

Wolves have been considering adding a striker as well, and they have spoken with Southampton’s Che Adams. However, Nottingham Forest is a formidable opponent.

In 41 Championship games, Adams scored 16 goals, helping the Saints return to the Premier League.
Although the Scotland international’s St. Mary’s contract expires at the end of this month, the team disclosed that negotiations are “ongoing regarding potential new deals.”
