Morecambe are gearing up for another season in League Two next time around.
Walsall and Harrogate Town will be joining them after an 11th and 13th place finish respectively.
Dearnley, 25, spent last season between Buxton and Chorley in the National League North. He played 40 games in the sixth tier and kept ten clean sheets between both clubs.
Before that he featured 40 times for Farsley Athletic where he kept eight clean sheets.
The 6ft6 goalkeeper has attracted plenty of interest as he is set to leave Buxton later this month.
Morecambe, Walsall and Harrogate Town are three Football League clubs chasing him, whilst Gateshead and Halifax Town are keen on keeping him in the non-league pyramid.
At 25, Dearnley is yet to play a game in the Football League. It seems a move there is on the cards this summer and he may feel like that is an opportunity he cannot turn down.
However, he should keep game time in mind. If he’s not guaranteed to be first choice at the three League Two sides interested, then he should consider Halifax Town and Gateshead as it would still be a step up for him.
The demands in League Two will take a little getting used to, but he should be able to quite comfortably make the step up this season.
Big summer ahead
Walsall were just five points outside the play-offs last season in the fourth tier. Harrogate Town, just seven.
Those are gaps that could be made up next season providing they make the right moves in the transfer window.
Morecambe have had an experience of League One football more recently than any of the other clubs mentioned, however they tailed off towards the backend of last season, winning just two of their last 11 outings.
League Two is always a tough division to compete in, but all three clubs are quite evenly matched and that means that none really have the upper-hand as things stand in the race for Dearnley.
This will be one to keep an eye on and it will be interesting to see if the 25-year-old shot stopper finally gets his move to League Two.
