Lewis O’Brien and Sonny Finch have both had surgery this week
This week, Lewis O’Brien and Sonny Finch of Middlesbrough underwent surgery in an effort to treat their ailments and start the process of getting back to full health.
O’Brien, a Nottingham Forest loanee, suffered an ankle injury and a lower tibia fracture during Boro’s victory over Watford at the end of the previous month. The 24-year-old will require surgery, it was determined after specialists examined scans, and Michael Carrick predicted he would be sidelined for two to three months.
O’Brien uploaded a picture of himself on Tuesday from his hospital bed following surgery, giving the camera a thumbs up, even though it means he is unlikely to play again this year. Writing: “Surgery completed.” Thank you for all the love and support, and for the incredible medical team. Cheers to recovering and returning stronger!”

For the remainder of the season, O’Brien is on loan from Forest to the Riverside. Even with the extended injury, everyone seems eager to keep the loan arrangement in place. Though O’Brien’s parent club still needed to work out the specifics of his recuperation, O’Brien is anticipated to stay with Boro in order to return to action as soon as feasible. The club’s official X account responded to his message with, “Behind you all the way.”
