Huge admirer Rodgers expressed his happiness with Paulo’s rise earlier this year. We have an opportunity to activate the agreement with the club, should we so choose.
“Since then, he has been learning the fundamentals of our play. I knew coming into last month’s Rangers game that he would start, and we wanted to give him a run of games. He has performed admirably.Furthermore, he wears a young shoulder and an ancient head. He’s an elite practitioner. I see him maturing as a person these days, feeling more assured around the players.
“He now has real clarity in how we play and how we work – and you see his game flourishing. He’s been excellent and I expect him to get better.
“We’ll assess it. I’ll sit down with him at some point towards the end of the season and take it from there. Do we know the fee involved? Yeah.
“But clearly the player would have to agree as well, it’s a two-way situation. But I can see Paulo is really enjoying his time here.
“He is maturing and getting better. Is the cost reasonable? I won’t reveal what it is, but it is unquestionably there or it wouldn’t be in place.
Over the years, Bernardo has been a vital member of Benfica’s young teams, having advanced via the academy.
The 2019 debutant for Portugal’s youth squad made 38 appearances in competitive play and contributed seven goals. He has made 26 appearances for the first team as well.
He spent a loan period at Paços de Ferreira before moving to Celtic, where he scored two goals in 13 appearances.
Just over a year ago, he was cleared to relocate to Scotland after only four out of 33 appearances saw him find the net.
The Hoops are taking their time hiring new players in an effort to select the best candidates.
They are apparently looking to sign Bernardo since he fit well in with their team.
Another player who has been strongly associated with a full-time move is Adam Idah. This past winter, he signed on loan from Norwich City in the Championship, where he scored some significant goals.
