Grix is looking for a new addition or two to help bolster Hull FC.
Hull entered the fight below strength, but Grix was proud of the effort of the team’s up-and-coming players and pointed out the need for some new blood for the final ten rounds. Hull had already lost Jed Cartwright, Danny Houghton, Joe Cator, Jack Ashworth, Cam Scott, Mitieli Vulikijapani, Nick Staveley, Charlie Severs, Sully Medforth, and Cobie Wainhouse due to injuries.
“We’ve got a lot of kids playing, and they’re better for the experience they’ve had, but I’ll be into Richie to see if we can bring some bodies in to support them,” Grix said following the game. It’s a challenging game; as the season progresses, all the aches and pains start to show.
“There are some people, like Herman (Ese’ese), who we will eventually have to rest, but it will be to his advantage. The boys are having fun, but eventually we have to come out on top. To give ourselves a chance, we must focus on what we’re doing.”
Grix provided an update on Tuimavave, who left the game in the second half due to a tightening in his hamstring. The centre was participating in his fourth match following his 14-week injury recovery.
“Carlos is on the back of a significant hamstring injury, and he has had hamstring injuries before that have hindered him,” Grix said. “He has been experiencing it for the entire week, but we are unable to provide everyone with a break.
“He went out and played, and we don’t have enough players to do that. The risk increased once he cooled down and stopped at halftime. He should have known better than to continue, so Davy Litten stepped in.
Grix continued, “I haven’t spoken to Ligi yet, but he got through it,” in reference to Sao. It’s evident that he had difficulty during the previous game, but let’s not forget that there aren’t any guys in queue behind him. It happens sometimes, but I believe he was a little more sore than he admitted.
“Your elder players sometimes need to step up and take care of those young guys. However, he overcame it, and perhaps he’ll be able to bounce back for the next one.”
