Zach Eckersley, though, scored a basket of his own to guarantee the Warriors led at the half.
Waqa Blake gave the Saints another lead, but tries from Adam Keighran and Eckersley gave Wigan the victory in the end, making it a memorable night for the young player. On the injury front, Bevan French tore his hamstring, which will keep him out of play for almost two months. The main controversy of the night came due to an early yellow card for St Helens man Matty Lees due to a tackle on Kaide Ellis.
Ellis took a while to get up after the tackle, holding his nose and mouth – and after this delay, Lees was sent for ten for a high tackle.
