Jordan Willis, a former defender for Coventry and Sunderland, just signed a contract with a new team.
Jordan Willis, a former defender for Coventry and Sunderland, has joined League One team Northampton and says he’s eager to get started.
The 29-year-old centre back suffered a ruptured patella tendon during a 2019 Sunderland encounter, which led to his official departure from the team last year. After finishing his rehabilitation at the Academy of Light, he signed a short-term contract with Wycombe in February of this year.
I’ve been here for a while, and so far, so good,” the centre defender stated on the Northampton website. Meeting the guys and gaining some experience in training has been beneficial. I can’t wait to get started because they seem like a terrific group, plus I recently signed a deal.
After just one week of practise, it’s clear that the club is doing well. You can see how good the team is, and maybe I can assist the team get better by adding to it.
“A few of the boys I know. I played with Ryan Haynes at Coventry and had two spells with Lee Burge at Sunderland and Coventry. It’s been nice to meet them again since we all arrived at Coventry around the same time.
“I started playing at Coventry when I was seventeen years old, and I stayed there for two seasons before moving on to Sunderland. After signing in January of last season, I had a solid six months at Wycombe. I was able to play a good number of games, and now that I’m in good health and shape, I’m prepared to get started right away.
Following Willis’ arrival, Northampton boss Jon Brady said: “We are delighted to welcome Jordan to the club. He is a defender with a huge amount of experience, particularly of playing in League One and we feel he will help add depth to the squad in a key position.”
