Road closed as man dies after being hit by car in Beith

The pedestrian was struck on the A737 road on Tuesday night

A automobile at Beith, North Ayrshire, knocked down a 46-year-old man, who later died.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the guy was struck by a black Land Rover Discovery Sport while he was crossing the A737.
For around six hours, the road was closed to enable for the completion of the inquiry.

Police are requesting dashcam or CCTV evidence that may be able to assist in their investigations.

This is the third deadly crash in Ayrshire in less than a week, following the deaths of a 24-year-old woman in a collision on the B7038 Ayr road in Kilmarnock and a 17-year-old girl on the A714 near Girvan.

Following the collision on Tuesday, Road Policing Sergeant Chris McColm stated, “Our sympathies are with the family and friends of the man who died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Anyone who witnessed what happened and was in the area is urged to get in touch with us as your information may be crucial.

Additionally, I would urge anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that might be able to assist with our inquiry to get in contact.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3948 of 20 July”
