Following a horrific crash that claimed six lives, POLICE have provided an update on a man detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Following a crash on Sunday afternoon on the A61 between Wakefield and Barnsley, four adults and two children were pronounced dead at the scene.
Parents A Ford Focus was being driven by Shane Roller, 33, and Shannen Morgan, 30 along with their kids, Rubie Morgan-Roller, 9, and Lillie Morgan-Roller, 4.
The 56-year-old married couple Christopher and 48-year-old Janine Barton were riding in a BMW S1000 XR Sport SE.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a man was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the force added, “He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.”
The police are still pleading with anyone who witnessed a grey Porsche 911 being driven around the scene of the crash to come forward.
Around 3.54 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, emergency services were called to the crash, which occurred close to the Barnsley village of Staincross.

According to a police spokesperson, “The Major Collision Enquiry Team of West Yorkshire Police has appealed to anyone who witnessed a grey Porsche 911 being driven in the area around the time of the collision to come forward.
“They also want anyone who may possibly have dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage of the car and the manner it was being driven to contact them.”
“I would like to appeal for anyone who may have seen this grey Porsche 911 being driven on the roads around the south of Wakefield or north of Barnsley to please contact us,” stated Detective Sergeant Steven Suggitt.
Additionally, I would like to ask anyone who has CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage of this vehicle that could help with our investigation to get in touch with us.

After being hit by a dump truck this morning in East Gwillimbury, a pedestrian has passed away.
According to a York Regional Police news release, a truck struck a 79-year-old man at the intersection of Davis Drive and Warden Avenue, causing life-threatening injuries. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and later declared dead.
The truck’s driver stayed at the scene.
The investigators are interested in speaking with any witnesses who have not yet been interviewed by the police as well as anyone who may have dashcam or other video surveillance of the area around the collision scene. One can post videos to the internet.
After a van in Bradford went the wrong way down the M606 and collided head-on with a taxi, three men lost their lives.
At 10:45 p.m. on July 24, West Yorkshire Police were dispatched to the scene in response to reports that a van had driven the incorrect way down the motorway and hadn’t stopped for them.
The van—which is thought to be stolen—then struck a taxi head-on close to the Chain Bar roundabout, which is located between junctions one and three.
An IOPC investigation was also started, and the motorway was blocked for hours while accident investigation work was done.
