Road closed as Beith woman confirmed dead after fatal crash

After her vehicle in Renfrewshire collided with a wall, a woman has died.

Around three thirty in the morning on Wednesdsay, July24, a sad incident occurred at the intersection of Beith Road and Overton Road in the town of Johnstone. A blue Vauxhall Astra was reported to have crashed into a wall, alerting the authorities.
The driver and only occupant of the car, a 31-year-old lady, was taken by ambulance to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. She was declared dead shortly after it was determined that she could not be saved.

The road was closed following the horror smash while cops launched an investigation into the event. It reopened hours later, around 7am. Anyone who has any information on the crash is being urged to come forward.

“Our thoughts are with the family,” said Sergeant  of the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Road Policing Unit.

“I would like to encourage anyone who was nearby and might have witnessed the car before the collision to come in contact with us.
