West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday are among the clubs to have been interested in Sory Kaba, and now a bid has been accepted for him, as per Canarias7.
The Baggies were relegated in 2021 and have not yet returned to the top level.
Carlos Corberan’s team made it to the play-off semifinals the previous season, but Southampton emerged victorious.
Kaba, 29, was on loan at Cardiff City for a portion of the 2022–2023 season. He scored eight goals and assisted on another in 17 appearances with the Bluebirds in the second division.
He has been connected to multiple Championship clubs this summer.
Sheffield United, the new guys, were reportedly keeping an eye on the situation, while Cardiff City was also eyeing him once again.
After a brief stint on loan at FC Midtjylland, he returned to Las Palmas last summer. In 20 appearances across all competitions, he scored twice and assisted once more while playing for the Spanish team.
In an attempt to expand their alternatives up forward, local rivals Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom both had their eye on Kaba.
However, recent Spanish reports state Las Palmas has accepted a deal; the team is not identified. The only information available is that it’s a British club, which suggests that it’s one of the many Championship teams that have shown interest in him
Finding his feet
Last season Kaba struggled for form and he will be hoping to find the form he had at Cardiff City a couple of seasons ago.
The 29-year-old still has time to play his best football in the coming seasons and he has registered strong goal scoring campaigns in Belgium, Denmark, Spain and England across his career.
He has already had a taste of Championship football and it will be hoped that experience allows him to hit the ground running if a move to England does happen this summer.
A permanent switch would be the best thing for the player as after several loan spells he could do with settling down at a club.
A tough season ahead
Although there is always competition in the Championship, all of the clubs who have apparently expressed interest will be looking for a successful season this time around.
Cardiff City placed midtable in the last campaign, and the Bluebirds in Wales have a promising future under Erol Bulut.
Under Corberan, Sheffield United and West Brom both hope to return to the Premier League after being relegated recently. West Brom will aim for another top six finish.
In the meantime, Danny Rohl’s squad, the Owls, will be hoping to storm the second tier this year after escaping relegation on the last day of play back in May. The Owls are now among the most interesting teams in the division.
