Don deal for Bristol Rovers

James Connolly, a defender, has joined Crewe Alexandra from Bristol Rovers for a two-year contract at an undisclosed amount. This makes him the eighth summer addition to the team, following the signings of forwards Fin Roberts, Kane Hemmings and Omar Bogle, goalkeeper Filip Marschall and defender Jamie Knight-Lebel.Connolly, 22, joined Bristol Rovers in January 2022 on loan before becoming a permanent member of the team that summer. He initially arrived to the club through the youth systems of Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City. In addition, he spent the first part of the previous campaign on loan at Morecambe. With nearly 100 career appearances, he joins the Alex.James also played for Wales against Gibraltar in May 2022 as an Under-21 representative.

In the short term, he joins the team to challenge Knight-Lebel for the position of center-half alongside Mickey Demetriou, provided the team sticks to the 4-2-3-1 formation from the preseason. Regarding Connolly, X user @Wardrobe55 said the following:
