West Ham will make a late fitness call on one of their key players ahead of the clash with Newcastle United.
Before their match against Newcastle United on Sunday, West Ham will make a last-minute decision about forward Michail Antonio’s health. Due to an injury, Antonio was unable to participate in their Europa League victory over Freiburg on Thursday. David Moyes has acknowledged that he has not yet seen the 33-year-old in training this week.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, Moyes said: “I will need to see [if Michail is available]. He’s not trained yet. He has done some running with the medical team, so over the next couple of days we will see if he is able to play.”
Manchester United won 3-0 over Crystal Palace, a team they would lose 1-0 to in the Premier League four days later, while Newcastle United overcame Manchester City in Round 3 to earn a trip to Old Trafford.
The matchup with Erik ten Hag’s team is scheduled between Wolves and Arsenal in the Premier League and comes just six days before Eddie Howe’s team travels to Germany to play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Newcastle United Supporters Trust issues a harsh statement in response to Man Utd’s decision, calling it “scandalous.”
Adding to the frustrations is the decision to move this game to an 8:15pm kick-off, making it impossible for supporters to travel back from Manchester after the match. That decision has also been labelled as ‘ridiculous’ by NUST in an explosive statement released on X.
