Major Bradford road closure after ghastly crash

Due to the incident, lanes one and two of the four on the M62 westbound between junction 25 (Brighouse) and junction 26 (M606) were closed.

All lanes have reopened, according to a 12.30 p.m. update from National Highways, but they also noted that “there is still approximately five miles of congestion on approach, causing residual delays of 45 minutes above usual journey times.”

While directing traffic after a tree fell into a busy road, a PCSO was struck by a car.

On Monday afternoon, a big tree fell onto a car in Bingley Road, Nab Wood, sending three people to the hospital.

That day, shortly before 4 p.m., emergency personnel were summoned to the location.

The car that was hit had three occupants, and a bystander reported that there was a branch in the window.

West Yorkshire Police issued a statement, saying: “The occupants were checked over by paramedics at the scene and no major injuries reported.”

“Several ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene and the three occupants of the car were conveyed to Airedale Hospital to be checked over,” a Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson stated.

Two drivers claimed that the tree blocked the road, causing “havoc” and “traffic at a standstill both ways.”

While the tree was taken out of the road and the damaged car was being recovered, police stayed on the scene.

On traffic control duty, however, a PCSO was struck by a car shortly after 7:30 p.m.

According to a police spokesperson, “They were taken to hospital with a foot injury.”

After that incident, Bingley Road was reportedly closed in both directions.

Tankers and HGVs were backed up to the Co-op store on Bingley Road in Saltaire, according to a bystander.
