Their mother – the sole survivor of her family – was flown to hospital with ‘multiple traumatic’ injuries.
After a horrifying two-car collision northwest of Toowoomba, a father and his two sons have passed away, and their mother is fighting for her life in the hospital.
Around 11 a.m. , the family of four was reportedly being driven by a LandCruiser ute when they were going along Dalby-Jandowae Rd at Jimbour East in their sedan.
The father, who was in his 50s, and the two boys, who were in the back seat and ages nine and fifteen, were critically injured and passed away at the site.
Due to potentially fatal injuries to her chest and abdomen, their mother was transported by air to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She was conscious, according to LifeFlight Rescue, but her injuries were described as “multiple traumatic.”
After suffering severe back pain, the ute’s driver was admitted to Toowoomba Hospital but non-life-threatening condition.
The family vehicle pulled over to assist a council employee who was mowing the side of the road, witnesses said 7NEWS.
Acting Inspector Greg Wheeler told reporters, “You can just imagine what it was like driving into something like this… it was pretty horrific for everyone involved.”
It’s always more traumatising when there are kids involved.
“Terrible circumstances led to the deaths of both the father in the front and the two children who were riding in the backseat of the sedan.”
Although he gave a warning, Queensland Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski stated that the collision will be looked into.
“People on the road need to obey the rules of the road and drive to the conditions,” he told reporters.
“The entire leadership team has committed to doing more in the road safety space because too many Queenslanders are losing their lives.”
Queensland Police closed the road and advised motorists to avoid the area.
